Hallo!/Bonjour! Moving to Liège

Hello Everyone! 

I wanted to share a little about myself and the purpose of the Living in Liège blog. 

My name is Zoe. About a year ago my partner, Matt, received an offer for a 2-year research position in Liège, Belgium starting in the fall of 2020. 

As Americans, trying to get a visa for both of us to Belgium during Covid-restrictions was certainly difficult (like almost impossible)... but 4 months later than we intended, we are finally here! 

While we were in the visa process, we wanted to learn more about what living in Liège was like, but we could not find much information about the city. 

I thought it might be a nice thing while we are living here to blog about the city so that anyone else who wants to travel here can learn more about what it's like and get a little taste of a beautiful lesser-known part of Belgium. 😃

They gave us sorbet and wine on the international flight... United airlines ended up being pretty nice! (They let us take our masks off temporarily while eating and everyone on the plane had to have a negative Covid test before flying)
