Why I Haven't Updated My Living in Liège Blog... for 5 Months. (Désolé!)

 Hi Everyone!

I'm sorry I haven't posted in 5 months. I made a (pretty long) video explaining why I stopped posting as well as give an update on what life is like:

  1. Thanks Zoe, for sharing so honestly how it's been as foreigners to move to Liège in the middle of a pandemic. I have been envious of your grand adventure, without the slightest clue how difficult, frustrating, and isolating it's been. I feel for you, as I've experienced homesickness, and know it's a real thing.

I can't imagine the red tape involved in replacing a stolen wallet and documents in a foreign county! It's difficult enough in the states.

I'm happy to hear of the positive things you two have experienced, and the little things like the geese that bring you joy. I hope that the difficulties with language, culture and travel expectations will improve sooner, rather than later.

Loved your video. Your beautiful spirit and honesty shone through.

    Hugs to you both, Kathie

    1. Hi Kathie! Thank you! It's a lot of red tape but things are also getting better too. Matt and I got to travel to Antwerp recently (another city in the Flemish-speaking side of Belgium) and it was quite lovely. We're also planning on coming back to the States for Thanksgiving so hopefully I can see you then! ❤️

  2. Moving to a new place is hard! Not to mention in a pandemic and when you don't speak the language. I remember calling my mom crying multiple nights when I was in Spain for two months because I couldn't communicate with my host family and my brain literally hurt from trying to think in Spanish all day. The good news is once you build a routine and find some semblance of community, it does get easier :) Love you!
